Easter

We had an interesting Easter this year. Jonathan and I made it to early service at church while daddy and Johanna stayed home together. On our way home from church Jonathan asked if he could hunt his Easter eggs inside. I told him we'd have to see where the "Easter Bunny" decided to hide them. To our surprise, when we got home the eggs were hidden in the house. Jonathan had a good time hunting his eggs and eating some of his Easter candy afterward.
Johanna and daddy stayed home because Johanna got sick on Saturday. We'll have to have her wear her Easter dress some other time I guess. Turns out she has an ear infection. YUCK! Enjoy the pics of Jonathan hunting Easter eggs.

Jonathan in his Easter shirt. So handsome.

Here's Johanna putting on her best Easter face and enjoying an Easter egg.

This and That

We thought it was time for another post. The pictures were taken last weekend. Johanna is having fun exploring now that she's crawling and pulling herself up to things. Jonathan is enjoying her more and more now too.

She had fun pulling books out of her bookshelf, chewing on them and then moving on to something else.

Here's a preview shot of her Easter dress. I wanted to make sure it was going to fit. Don't worry we'll post more Easter shots after next weekend.

I took the opportunity to take a photo of Jonathan. (He doesn't let us or anyone take his picture very often). I thought he looked pretty handsome in this outfit.

A few more pics of brother and sister together. The first is of a crawling race they had and the second pic is just a shot of them bundled up before we head out for school and work in the morning.

The Hobbit

At J-girl's age, her news might be a bit more exciting than J-man's. Within the next few months, we anticipate postings like "J-girl's First Steps" or "J-girl's first word." However, I will do my best to come up with some news concerning J-man in order to give him equal blog space. Possible future postings for him might be: "J-man Learns Inappropriate Word at Preschool" or "J-man Decides Kissing isn't Yucky After All." Here is my first attempt to balance the blog:

For bedtime we have been reading The Hobbit to J-man. We had been able to get through the first two Oz books without too much trouble, but he hadn't shown much interest in continuing that series. (Did you know there are 14 Oz books? Jeez.) When I started reading The Hobbit I fully expected him to lose interest by the second chapter. But chapter two has the trolls in it. That got him hooked. He really listens, too. During some of the more exciting parts he'll pull his knees up to his chest and cover his mouth, waiting to find out what happens. You would think he was watching Star Wars. (We did watch Star Wars shortly after his birthday. Next year, we'll do Empire.) We're about half way through the book and so far his favorite part is Gollum.

And now for your viewing pleasure, here is J-man "dancing" to the String Beans. This was taken around Christmas time.

Other notes:

We now realize that the title for the last posting may not have been the best choice. Sorry if anyone was offended. We assure you that noone has been Smackin' Johanna.

We recently borrowed a children's C.D. from the library that featured "The Name Game." We learned two things: (1) Don't ever put yourself in a position where you have to listen "The Name Game" everytime you get in the car for three weeks, and (2) "The Name Game" is really hard to do with the name Johanna. Seriously. Try it.

Smackin' Johanna

One of Johanna's favorite things to do now is smack her lips. She thinks it's the coolest thing. She does it when she flirts with daddy, she does it when she meets people (kind of like "hey look what I can do"), and she does it when she's happy. She may have picked up on the sound from us kissing her rosey cheeks all the time. I don't know-but it's cute!

Welcome to the J Kids

We've set up this blog to allow family and friends to keep up with how our kids are doing. We had tried MySpace but it seemed too hip for our tastes. Hopefully, we will be good bloggers and update often. We'll see. I've made a few unsuccessful attempts at uploading videos.

Here's some recent news to get everybody caught up:

J-girl is now crawling. (This was the video that I was attempting on upload.) She does well on the carpet, but once she hits the tile she just spins her wheels. No traction. For now, this keeps her out of the kitchen where all of the dangerous stuff is. We've got the baby gate ready for when she does master the slicker floor. She enjoys standing but can't yet pull herself up. She's starting to eat solids. Mostly baby food, but she does get half a biscuit whenever we have biscuits and gravy. Mmmmmmmmm . . . biscuits and gravy.

J-man celebrated his fourth birthday last month. All of the grandparents and most of the aunts and uncles made the trip to help us celebrate. Mommy made a delicious dinosaur cake. J-man had fun playing with his cousin Jakob (another J Kid?) and Savannah, his friend from school.

Daddy and J-man recently attended one of the Husker Baseball Team's first home games. J-man had fun learning the rules of baseball as well as how to open peanuts.
